Pollock oil research yields new diet supplement

A new process that purifies Alaska pollock liver oil has resulted in a commercially produced diet supplement. Alex Oliveira, associate professor with the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program in the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, developed the molecular distillation process. Fisheries student Iris Fletcher featured speaker

Iris Fletcher, a senior at the UAF School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, was one of two featured student speakers at the 2014 UAF Scholarship & Award breakfast April 15. Fletcher will be graduating with a double major in fisheries and biological sciences and a minor in marine sciences. She is the 2013-2014 recipient of the Mary Louise Rasmuson Undergraduate Fisheries Scholarship and the Al Tyler Memorial Scholarship. Continue reading

Twentieth round of Rasmuson fellowship recipients announced
